Jesus believed himself to be charged with the task of creating a covenant community of disciples and believers (Mark 1:16–20; 3:13–18). Hence, Paul portrays him as head and Lord of the Church (Colossians 1:18). Third, Jesus had an innate awareness that he was God’s anointed one for that moment and that task.
